Consultation - Economic-based threats to national security
From Public Safety Canada
Current Status: Closed
Consultation Description
As economic-based threats to Canada’s national security evolve in sophistication and complexity we need to ensure that our approach to addressing them evolves too.
The Government of Canada has taken recent actions in the field of research security (September, 2020, March, 2021), foreign investment reviews (amendments to the National Security Guidelines of the Investment Canada Act) and in Budget 2019 announced additional resources to assess and respond to the threats.
Public Safety Canada is leading a policy review examining what, if any, additional measures are needed to ensure Canada’s continued ability to respond to these challenges now and in the future. We have reached out to stakeholders in the private sector, research community, civil society, provinces, territories, and municipalities, and key international partners for their input into this review process.
