Lisa Hepfner
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth
Represents the riding of Hamilton Mountain
Lisa Hepfner was elected as the Member of Parliament for Hamilton Mountain in 2021. She has served on various parliamentary committees, associations, and groups, including the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage and the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics.
Ms. Hepfner’s decision to enter politics was driven by her desire to serve her community. As a Member of Parliament, she provides a strong voice on the issues that matter most to people and families in Hamilton Mountain and across Canada, including child care, affordable housing, infrastructure, and the environment.
Before entering politics, Ms. Hepfner worked for over twenty years as a television news journalist for CHCH, in Hamilton, where she learned about and shared the stories of members of the local community – a role that helped her better understand local challenges and how to tackle them.
A mother and a dedicated community volunteer, Ms. Hepfner was awarded YWCA Hamilton’s 2011 Women of Distinction Award for politics and public affairs for her advocacy work in support of women and girls.
Ms. Hepfner holds Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Journalism from the University of Calgary and Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University), respectively, and a Master’s degree in Communications Management from McMaster University.
