How to access your tax slips in MSCA
To access your tax slips online, you must register or sign in to in My Service Canada Account (MSCA).
Once registered or signed in, from the MSCA homepage select “Employment Insurance” or "Canada Pension Plan/Old Age Security."
Then:
- go to “Tax information”
- select “Tax slips”
- from the drop-down menu, select the year of the tax slip you want to access
- select “View” – a hyperlink to the tax slip will be displayed
- select the hyperlink to access your tax slip
You can also access Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)'s My Account for Individuals directly from MSCA. From the MSCA homepage, select “Access CRA”.
Requesting tax slips for someone else
You cannot access tax slip online services in MSCA if you are:
- a registered trustee
- a guardian
- another legal representative taking care of a client’s financial affairs
You can complete transactions on another person’s behalf by mail, by telephone or in person.
Tax slips available online in MSCA
You can view, save, or print official copies of the following tax slips in MSCA:
- T4E for Employment Insurance (EI)
- T4A/NR4 for Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS)
Tax slips for the current tax year are available in MSCA no earlier than February 1 of each year. Also available online are tax slips for the past 6 years.
If you chose to receive your tax slips online:
- you will not receive them by mail, and
- you will not be notified when your tax slips are available
You can print a copy of your electronic tax slip. It is considered an official document by the Canada Revenue Agency. It can be attached to your income tax return.
If you recently obtained a new Social Insurance Number (SIN), you will not be able to view any T4E issued under your previous SIN in MSCA. Contact Service Canada to request copies by mail.
Amended tax slips
Your tax slips may be amended after they are issued.
You can view, save, or print amended EI and CPP tax slips in MSCA if they change after they were first issued.
- Amended EI tax slips are available online immediately after the amendment is processed
- Amended CPP tax slips are available online 7 to 10 days after the amendment is processed
Note: Amended OAS tax slips are not available in MSCA. They will be mailed to you.
Tax slips sent by mail
Your tax slips will be mailed to you if:
- you have not requested to receive your EI, CPP or OAS tax slips online
- your OAS tax slip changed
- you have a negative benefit amount: you were overpaid and the overpayment is greater than the total benefit amount paid during the tax year
- you received the one-time payment for older seniors
- you received OAS or CPP benefits, resulting from one of our social security agreements with another country, and meet any of these conditions:
- your CPP payment consists of both CPP and Régime de rentes du Québec
- you have a negative benefit amount: you were overpaid and the overpayment is greater than the total benefit amount paid during the tax year
- you live in Quebec and receive CPP benefits
- you have an overpayment with another government program, for example the CRA or Veterans Affairs
How to change your tax slip mailing option
Your tax slips will always be available online in MSCA, even if you choose to receive them by mail.
To change your mailing option:
- register or sign in to MSCA
- go to “Tax information”
- select “Tax slip mailing options”
- select either “Mail” or “Online”
Deadline for receiving your tax slips by mail
To receive your slips for the current tax year by mail, you must update your mailing option to “Mail” by the first week of January of each year. If your update your choice later, the change will take effect the following year.
