Canada-China joint committee on culture
The Canada-China Joint Committee on Culture was established in July 2017 to advance cooperation between both countries. This committee will position culture as one of the key areas of ongoing governmental engagement with China, leading the way to greater cultural collaboration as well as opening new market opportunities.
The first meeting took place in Ottawa, on February 1 and 2, 2018 and was co-chaired by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and the Minister of Culture of the People’s Republic of China. Each country was represented by a delegation of key representatives from cultural institutions and creative industry companies.
The committee will meet every two years alternating between countries and will provide a new opportunity for high-level dialogue on matters of mutual interest in culture, creative industries, the arts, heritage, and other areas. It will explore possibilities for bilateral cooperation and exchange between our cultural institutions, our artists and our people.
